| Wave Stopper®, Trapez, and Backland Stopper |
Low screw-retention forces, less rigid materials (especially in the cylinder head area), and narrow studs – these kinds of conditions demand real innovation. One of VICTOR REINZ’s many excellent ideas is called Wave Stopper® or Trapez Stopper.

It works like this: concentric waves are stamped at the combustion chamber into an active functional layer made of spring steel. The geometry of these waves permits the cylinder head gasket to adapt individually to the stiffness of the motor. When combined with a second Wave Stopper® in the so-called “backland” (backland stopper), it is possible to counteract deformation of the cylinder head and achieve an identical level of pressure across all cylinders.
