The Variable Internal pressure Pneumatic Simulator (VIPS) is a special test stand developed by VICTOR REINZ to simulate engine operation under the most realistic conditions possible. This test stand takes the actual ignition sequence into consideration and even simulates temperature. Only the engine block and cylinder heads with valves and screws are required for this test.
This design reduces engine test stand costs and also helps protect the environment because no engine operations under actual conditions (ignition) are necessary in this phase of development.
